Our Young Rustler Riding program is specially designed to teach young riders confidence, courage and caring, as well as responsibility for the horse they ride. Young Rustlers learn horsemanship, horse body language, all about tack and horses in and out of the arena. Form a partnership with your horse, play games, and enjoy.
Both beginner and intermediate sessions are offered in three Saturday classes all year around from 8:45 am to 10:15 am three of the four Saturdays to youth and adults of all ages
Our programs provide positive change for very special lives. Horseback riding is a proven healing technique for children with a variety of special needs both physical and emotional.
How does riding help clients with special needs?
The horse allows a person to be in charge while riding. They are “in control” instead of being told what to do by teachers, parents, family members and peers. The feeling of empowerment has positive effects on physical and mental health. Students can talk with confidence about something they love. Balance, flexibility, coordination, sensory integration, attention span and verbalization are improved.
Our programs have been designed to be healing, educational and fun. At Healing Pastures our participants find “Success in the Saddle and in Life.”
Healing Pastures is associated with PATH ( Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) (formerly known as NARHA): The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.
We offer riding lessons for all ages and all deciplines. From beginners to advanced riders, we’ve got it all. First-timers will learn safety, grooming, and how to properly saddle a horse. More advanced riders can receive show training from our experienced trainers. Many types of classes are now available:
Join THE Mature Riders program and get back in the saddle! This is a Wednesday 12 to 1 riding program for adults (18+) who have always wanted to ride but never had the opportunity; or have ridden in the past and would like the opportunity to get back in the saddle!
Riders will learn horsemanship, safety, relationship with a horse, how to understand horse body language, make new friends, and experience ranch life. Open year around.
