Healing Pastures at C Horse Ranch is a facility dedicated to a healing environment focusing on courage, confidence and caring. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to the philosophy that our clients are treated with compassion and respect.
We are a place of learning for both our clients and our staff. Our four-legged animals, most of whom are rescued, partner with our two-legged clients to form a bond that is often everlasting for both. We frequently tell our clients that “horses pick their people” as we see this happen so very often. In serving a diverse population, we are able to meet many of the special and individual needs of our community, many of whom then volunteer or support our non-profit.
There is a shortage of non-profits and services to support youth and adults with substance abuse, special needs, foster children, abused and at risk children. Healing Pastures has worked hard to partner with youth groups, the American Cancer Society, CASA, the Interfaith Food Closet, and individuals in the community to offer our services in equine therapy. Our goals are to provide our animals with the best possible home so they in turn can provide the best possible services for our clients.
Some of the Donations made to Healing Pastures will be used for workers doing community services, California Conservation Corps and community service workers in general to form a full circle of giving, being rewarded for giving and then giving back. In order to provide these services, we need committed volunteers, funding for veterinary services, feed, farrier, and other horse and animal needs.
Other Donations to Healing Pastures will be used to support our work with CASA kids (Court Appointed Special Advocates) which works with abused and neglected children in the foster care system, individual children and adults seeking additional therapy assistance, our Cancer Survivors and Caregivers Support Group, local youth groups, and schools.
We provide many scholarships to youth who would not be able to afford our services. We hope to provide the light at the end of the tunnel for probation youth and all who do their community service here at Healing Pastures.
Honey is the Founder, Director and CEO of Healing Pastures @ C-Horse Ranch. She began her journey with horses at the age of 52. One of the forerunners of Equine Facilitated Therapy, she has been working with “at risk”, special needs youth and seniors, and all who seek help using animals and the outdoors.
Honey is a 10 year cancer survivor, a Certified Relationship Special, Certified Hypno-Therapist, Trained Art Therapist and Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association. Her first non profit was started in 1994 and ran until 2010 when the board decided not to put clients on horses and Honey decided that they needed to find another facility for Riding High Equestrian Program. She started Healing Pastures in 2013 where clients can definitely ride the horses. She also maintains a private practice seeing couples, youth and individuals.
She has three children, four grandchildren and 32 four legged friends. In what little spare time Honey has, she paints; mostly of animals, and she is still attempting to ride and train a little Paso Fino rescued from the slaughter house.
Leandra is the newest addition to the Healing Pastures Riding Program. Her two greatest passions are kids and horses. She has been a horse woman all her life and has excelled in western horsemanship. She also brings her invaluable 17 years experience as a special education teacher which has proven to enhance her time here with the children. She is truly a valuable asset to the program!
Lyndal is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #103844). She moved to the area in 2016 from San Luis Obispo where she was working with foster and high-risk youth in the community. She further worked for the county as a school-based therapist providing services to students in a Therapeutic Learning Classroom. She has training and experience in using trauma focused therapies, play therapy and family systems.
Lyndal has a beautiful 2-year-old daughter and another little one on the way! She has always had a love for animals and helping others, so she is excited to learn the ways of blending them together here at Healing Pastures!
